President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who is set to assume office for the 2024-2029 term, has called on his supporters and volunteers from the Prabowo-Gibran alliance to maintain peace and unity in Indonesia by avoiding any mass protests at the Constitutional Court.
“I want to make it clear,” Prabowo said, “I sincerely urge all Indonesians, especially the 96.2 million who supported the Prabowo-Gibran ticket, to refrain from any form of protest outside the Constitutional Court or any other location. We must protect our democratic stability and uphold the unity of our nation.”
Prabowo acknowledged the accusations made by his opponents but encouraged his followers to remain calm and peaceful.
“It is natural to feel unsettled given the current tensions,” he remarked, “and while many of you have responded passionately, I urge everyone to remain vigilant and approach this situation with a mindset focused on maintaining harmony and peace. Let’s not succumb to provocations that seek to disrupt our societal peace.”
Prabowo stressed the importance of showing restraint and keeping a level head in order to prioritize the well-being of the Indonesian people and the unity of the country.
“I implore everyone to stay calm, be considerate, and exercise self-control. Let the Constitutional Court and its judges carry out their duties with integrity, concentrating on the welfare of our people and the future of our beloved nation,” he concluded.
