President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, showed great enthusiasm for the plan of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. This statement was made after a bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Lula at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília. Prabowo welcomed the initiative to bring Brazilian businesspeople to Indonesia, emphasizing that it could enhance cooperation between the two countries, especially in trade and investment.
During the meeting, Prabowo highlighted the common interests and potential for economic relations between Indonesia and Brazil. He acknowledged that both nations are large, with significant populations and abundant natural resources and biodiversity. Prabowo mentioned that previous cooperation agreements often remained as written documents, but now there is an opportunity to collaborate more effectively.
He also admired Brazil’s advancements in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing Indonesia’s interest in learning from Brazil’s experience. Prabowo appreciated Lula’s support for Indonesia’s plan to send technical teams to study Brazil’s innovations and agricultural technologies. Apart from Prabowo’s visit to Brasília, he was in Brazil to attend the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
President Lula is expected to visit Indonesia in October, and Prabowo mentioned preparing a grand celebration for Lula’s 80th birthday. This exchange of visits and cooperation between Indonesia and Brazil signifies a positive step towards strengthening bilateral relations.
