Building Healthy Habits: CKG School Program Promotes Wellness in Children

The government initiated the Free Health Check in Schools (CKG Sekolah) program to provide early health screenings directly in schools to detect potential health issues among students and intervene swiftly and effectively. Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), highlighted the importance of early detection in preventing future dangers and enabling timely treatment during a visit to SMA 6 South Tangerang. The program covers all school levels, including elementary to senior high, with 1,225 students at SMA 6 South Tangerang receiving free health checks administered by 13 healthcare workers from the Pamulang Community Health Center. The focus is not only on identifying health problems early but also on promoting healthy habits through ongoing education, such as proper oral and aural hygiene, balanced diet, and physical fitness. Hasan emphasized the need for a culture of preventive care beyond schools to minimize health risks and promote healthier lifestyles. Asnawi Abdullah, Head of the Health Development Policy Agency at the Ministry of Health, emphasized the importance of instilling healthy behaviors in students at an early age to build a foundation for a healthy national culture. The CKG program aims to facilitate this by utilizing schools as the gateway to fostering a culture of health. Student participants like Aryo Gustian Wisesa at SMA 6 South Tangerang expressed their excitement and positive experiences during the health screening process. The overarching goal is to cultivate healthy habits in students that will carry into adulthood and contribute to overall well-being.
