President Prabowo Subianto is determined to uplift the poor through various flagship initiatives that not only address immediate needs but also aim to create a better future for generations to come. Programs such as Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG are at the forefront of this mission, as mentioned by Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono during a Berani Bicara discussion in Jakarta. The Sekolah Rakyat program, in particular, seeks to break the cycle of poverty from one generation to the next by providing children born into poverty with better educational opportunities.
President Prabowo’s administration has made eradicating poverty a top priority, with ambitious targets set to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. These goals will be achieved through a combination of social interventions and community empowerment programs. Adita Irawati, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office, discussed the administration’s three-pronged strategy to combat poverty, including initiatives like the Red-and-White Village Cooperatives and Free Health Checks in Schools.
The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives are aimed at stimulating local economies and providing job opportunities to empower both rural and urban communities. The administration is committed to ensuring that these programs benefit the poor as quickly as possible. Programs like the Free Health Checks in Schools have already reached millions of Indonesians and continue to expand their reach to improve the well-being of students across the country.
President Prabowo is set to launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program, with the goal of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide. These cooperatives serve as a model of village empowerment, enabling communities to meet their needs and create livelihoods through their own efforts. The government’s dedication to uplifting the poor and breaking the cycle of poverty is evident in these initiatives that aim to create a brighter future for all Indonesians.
