Rama, a single mother from Bogor Regency, West Java, found hope in the government’s Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School), where her son Ridwan received care and kindness. Facing financial struggles after the passing of her first husband and Ridwan’s father remarrying, Rama struggled to make ends meet. However, a social worker approached her about enrolling Ridwan in the fully funded residential education program of Sekolah Rakyat, and despite initial hesitations, she decided to enroll her son.
Witnessing firsthand the care and attention Ridwan received at the school gave Rama a sense of relief and gratitude. Having almost lost hope due to poverty and exhaustion, seeing her son treated with respect and care warmed her heart. Previously, Ridwan had faced bullying and refused to attend school because he couldn’t read, but now, he is enrolled in Sekolah Rakyat, and Rama dreams of a better future for him.
Expressing her gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto and the program’s supporters, Rama hopes for her son to succeed and become a smart, successful young man. With Ridwan back in school and regaining his sense of self-worth, Rama has newfound hope for the future. This heartwarming story showcases the impact of the state’s efforts in bringing tangible change to the lives of vulnerable citizens through programs like Sekolah Rakyat.
