President Prabowo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia had a significant meeting with King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of Belgium at the Royal Palace of Laeken in Brussels. The meeting, which took place on a Sunday, was marked by a warm reception as President Prabowo arrived at the palace. The two leaders then proceeded into the palace and had an official photo session in the main hall. In a cordial atmosphere, President Prabowo and King Philippe had a private one-on-one meeting. Accompanying President Prabowo were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Belgium, Andri Hadi.
This meeting with King Philippe was the final engagement in President Prabowo’s series of high-level meetings during his state visit to Belgium. After the meeting, King Philippe personally bid farewell to President Prabowo as he departed for Brussels Airport. President Prabowo then continued his journey to Paris, France, to attend the Bastille Day celebrations as a guest of honour. Earlier in Brussels, President Prabowo also had strategic diplomatic meetings with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa.
These meetings highlighted Indonesia’s active diplomatic efforts to finalize the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the European Union, aiming to strengthen economic ties between the two parties. President Prabowo’s visit to Belgium showcased Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing its international relations and fostering economic cooperation with key partners.
