President Prabowo Subianto made an official visit to Saudi Arabia on July 2–3, 2025, aiming to strengthen cooperation in improving services for Indonesian pilgrims during their Hajj and Umrah journeys. During his visit, the President held discussions with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. This meeting emphasized the collaboration between the two countries to ensure the safety and comfort of Indonesian pilgrims during their religious activities, with a focus on enhancing the quality of services for future Hajj seasons.
Apart from addressing Hajj-related matters, strategic agreements were made to enhance bilateral relations. The Saudi–Indonesia Supreme Coordination Council, co-chaired by the Crown Prince and President Prabowo, concentrated on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and technology. Both countries have had significant trade partnerships, with bilateral trade amounting to approximately USD 31.5 billion over the past five years. Additionally, agreements were signed to boost private sector investment, totaling around USD 27 billion, which is expected to create job opportunities in Indonesia, particularly in energy, industrial development, and sustainable technology sectors.
The leaders also highlighted the importance of cooperation in the healthcare sector, especially in meeting the medical needs of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. They discussed the advancement of pharmaceutical and vaccine industries, as well as increasing health workforce capacity. On an international level, President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed their commitment to peaceful conflict resolutions in the region, supporting a two-state solution for Palestine and emphasizing the role of international humanitarian organizations in promoting peace and stability.
Overall, the visit solidified the strong partnership between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia across various sectors, showcasing their joint efforts to improve services for Indonesian pilgrims and deepen cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.
