French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized that the friendship between Indonesia and France goes beyond mere symbolism and has evolved into a robust and meaningful collaboration. During his visit, President Macron was warmly welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia, particularly in the areas of economy, technology, security, and culture. The two countries have maintained diplomatic relations for 75 years, with significant progress achieved in recent years. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and commended the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition.
Cultural cooperation was also a focal point of Macron’s visit, culminating in the signing of a cultural agreement at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the growing friendship between Indonesia and France. Macron expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo for the warm hospitality and expressed optimism for continued collaboration during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
