Major General TNI (Ret.) Glenny Kairupan has been a close friend of the author since their time as cadets in 1970. They were part of the same company led by First Lieutenant Azwar Syam and shared many experiences together. Glenny Kairupan, known for his strong and athletic physique, is described as a friendly, courageous, and patriotic individual.
During the author’s time in KOPASSUS, Glenny Kairupan was in the Army Aviation division. They frequently met in East Timor, especially after engagements where casualties needed to be evacuated. Despite the risks involved, Glenny Kairupan would bravely land his helicopter on difficult terrains to transport the wounded and fallen.
Their collaboration extended to joint operations in various challenging areas like East Timor, Papua, and border regions. Glenny Kairupan eventually rose to the position of Deputy Commander of the Military Resort Command in East Timor before retiring as a Major General. Even after retirement, he continues to support the author in the Ministry of Defence.
Aside from his military career, Glenny Kairupan is also a skilled sportsman, excelling in shooting, obstacle course athletics, and tennis. Described as active, dynamic, energetic, and joyful, he embodies the qualities of a military leader who is always eager to learn and has a close relationship with Pak Wismoyo Arismunandar.
