FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, are believed to garner strong support from the Muslim community and pesantren in the 2024 presidential election.
One of the reasons is because this pair is supported by ulama and kiai. This can be seen from the structure of Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (Tim Kampanye Nasional/TKN). The campaign team consists of ulama and kiai.
Some of the ulama and kiai who are part of the campaign team are Habib Lutfi bin Yahyah and KH Adib Rofiuddin Izza. KH Adib is the leader of Buntet Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren/Buntet) in Cirebon and serves as an advisory board member.
AB Solissa, the Executive Director of Partner Politik Indonesia, stated that the presence of figures like Kiai Adib will have a significant influence.
One of the influences is the ability to reach out to the Muslim community and pesantren. “Figures who are considered to represent pesantren, such as Kiai Adib, need to be accommodated in the TKN structure in order to gain support from the pesantren voter base,” said Solissa on Tuesday (7/11).
He also stated that the presence of ulama like Kiai Adib would complement the organization of Prabowo-Gibran TKN. This is because the current Prabowo/Gibran TKN is composed of individuals from different backgrounds.
“The combination of party and non-party members, civilian-military, activists, entrepreneurs, and young people make Prabowo-Gibran TKN very interesting,” said Solissa.
The organization of Prabowo-Gibran TKN can be considered quite complete as it consists of individuals with various backgrounds.
